Nick Tahou's Meat Sauce For The Famous Garbage Plate!

I ordered my hot dogs from Rochester, NY and while ordering them I found a meat sauce that was suppose to be close to Nick's famous meat sauce.

You have to have the meat sauce to make a garbage plate! It is totally incomplete without it!

I tried the sauce and it was close but something was missing. Finally I figured out it was the spices. The company that put this sauce out had not put the correct spices in the sauce.

That was when I set out to find the right recipe and make it myself.

It took a while and some trial and error but finally I have come up with the sauce that comes very close to the orginal.

Here is how it is made:

Nick Tahou's Meat Sauce 

Ingredients
1 medium onion, chopped
1 teaspoon oil
1 pound ground beef
1 cup water
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 clove garlic, diced 
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper 
1 to 3 teaspoons of Franks Red Hot sauce

Directions:

***there are a lot of directions for making this sauce and they are all difficult and confusing. I almost think these directions are to discourage you from making it.but of course I came up with the easiest way to make it. 
1. First put your onion in a grinder so it is chopped small and mix together with the garlic.
In a large skillet and allow onions to soften for about three minutes then add the ground beef. 
2. when the ground beef is cooked place the ground beef in the grinder and grind the beef. It just saves time and energy with breaking up the ground beef .
3. Return the ground beef to the pan and then add the tomato paste, and the rest of the ingredients and cook on simmer for about an hour then you have the sauce you have been craving for your hots and hamburgers for so log!

Once the sauce has cooled divide into 5 sandwitch bags and freeze. That gives you enough sauce for five or six meals and you will be able to make the famous Nick Tahou's Garbage Plate any time you wish!

I won't leave you hanging here is how to assemble a garbage plate:

Plate Ingredients:

2 –  beef patties,with or without cheese, or two hot dogs I prefer zwigles 

Home fries 

 macaroni salad/or bake beans

 onion, diced 

Meat sauce

slice of Italian bread on the side.

Directions:

place the home fries, baked beans or macaroni salad on the plate

next place your hot dogs or hamburg on top of the salad

next pour the meat sauce over the top of the meat.

Then you have the basic Garbage Plate.

Use what ever condiments you wish. I like it just with the meat sauce with a few chopped onions on it.
