Vigo Mixes
I don't know about you but when I find a great product I want to share with others so they can try it too.
That is what I want to do today. A few weeks ago I stopped at my favorite Dollar Tree in Glenville NY and found a new product. It was Vigo Chili Soup Mix. I read the ingredients and decided why not give it a try? All I would have to do is add water tomatoes and meat.
Next I found another Vigo product. It was red beans and rice. I had no clue if I would even eat this but why not try it?
A couple of weeks ago I wanted to make chili and recalled that I had bought the chili soup mix.
I took the bag out of the pantry and read the directions.
I didn't want soup I wanted chili so I cut the amount of water down from three cups to two cups. and added a can of tomatoes and ground beef about half a pound then I let it cook for about an hour on the stove until it thickened.
I did not have to add a thing to this mix. It was perhaps the best tasting chili I have ever made with no fuss! It not only made enough for dinner but I was also able to put enough away for three more meals and I am not talking small meals I am talking large foam cups full of chili!
Last week I wanted the smoked sausage that I had also gotten from the Dollar Tree.
I took one link of sausage out of the package and then refroze the second link.
Now I asked myself what am I going to make with this sausage? I began to rummage though my pantry when I came across the Vigo red beans and rice.
I took the package from the pantry and read the directions and suggestions. Right there on the package it suggested adding smoked sausage. Done deal I said to myself!
All I had to do was add water and slice up the sausage to add to the pan.
The package said bring to boil then cook on simmer for thirty minutes. That's the only change I had to make because I checked on the rice after fifteen minutes it was done.
Your stove may be different than mine and it may require the full thirty minutes so all I can say is check on it until you know how long it will take to cook.
It smelled so good and I was caustically optimistic it would taste just as good as I scooped the rice beans and sausage into a dish and gave it a try. It was tasted so good! Later I was able to freeze three good size servings.
Tonight I will make this meal again since I have it ready and waiting in the freezer. I have a busy day today so its good to have this prepared meal and on hand.
I think I will make some corn muffins with jalapeno peppers later when I get back home. It should be a great addition to make this a perfect meal.
Two for two not a bad record for this product!
I can not wait to buy the collard greens soup mix next.
It should be outstanding with pork!
This product is not always available at the dollar store so I did some checking in the area and it is carried at Shop Rite.
I am sure there are other places its carried as well.
I hope you try this product its such good quality and the price is more than right!
