Bad Girl For Dinner Tonight! I made Sausage And Gravy!
I wanted to tell you
about the dinner I fixed tonight. I was tired of being good and eating right
but not too tired to make sure that what I had for dinner did have some nutritional
value to it.
OK OK! I know but it’s
hard for me to be totally bad I don’t have it in me lol. Just once maybe…well
never mind that is for another day and something to work toward accomplishing.
But I wanted to be a little bad and have
something really good for dinner tonight and knew just what I was going to make!
I knew what I wanted
because of a little shopping trip I made a couple of days ago.
I went to the Dollar
General with my neighbor. She was bored and wanted to go shopping so I took her
to my favorite Dollar General in Burnt Hills.
While she shopped around
looking for her treasures I went over to the food isle to pick up some Lipton’s
Ice Tea. It comes in a gallon size for three dollars. I am careful using it
because of the calories and the cost of course but I was out of this tea and
decided this would be a good time to pick up a gallon while I was there.
After picking up the ice
tea I looked around a little and found a new item Dollar General was promoting.
They had taken fifty cents off the regular price of this item as an incentive
to get people to give it a try.
It was sausage and gravy
put out by Libby’s. I know Libby’s is a good product but I was a little
skeptical about buying anything with cream in a tin can.
We all know and I am
sure we all have experienced how bad the taste of something can be when the tin has
transferred a metallic taste to the product.
In the end I decided to
give it a try and added this new product to my purchases for that day and
brought it home.
Tonight as I said I was tired
of being good about low caloried and nutritious foods so I took the can of
sausage and gravy out of the pantry and opened it.
I am a bit of a wimp
when it comes to trying new things but finally took a teaspoon and gave the sausage
and gravy a try to see if I wanted to cook it. I was pleasantly surprised how
good it was.
No metallic taste and it
was almost as good as I could have made it.
So tonight I made the
sausage and gravy and put it over an English muffin and served it with two eggs
on the side.
It was a great meal and
very filling.
When I put the rest of
the sausage and gravy away I added a squirt of mustard (such a Rochester thing
to do!) and added just a little sea salt and fresh ground pepper and it made
the taste perfect!
I will buy this product
again even at the cost of dollar fifty a
can because I found I only used a third of the can which means it will be good
for three meals. Now that makes this a terrific bargain!
The total cost of my
dinner tonight was under a dollar fifty.
So if you like sausage
and gravy but you don’t like the time or hassle to make it give this product a
try I believe you will enjoy it.
Best of all for me I
like it when I am bad and it pays off as it did today!
