Crock Pot Turkey & Cranberry sauce

Crock Pot Turkey & Cranberry sauce.

Today I was in the mood for Turkey. I mean real turkey. I had a turkey breast in the freezer but didn’t make because it has been too hot to put on the oven.
I decided that perhaps it was cool enough outside today to put the oven on low and bake the turkey breast.
So I reached in the freezer and out came the turkey breast.
Next I went on line to my favorite recipe site cooks.com to look basically for a marinade. What I found was even better that a marinade it was a new way to make the turkey breast.
It was a recipe to make the breast in a crock pot.
I had never heard of making turkey in a crock pot but it was worth a try when it meant that I did not have to put the oven on and heat up the house.
I pulled out the crock pot and no way was the turkey breast going to fit in my little crock pot. Not to be stopped I began cutting the turkey breast in half.
It’s not easy by the way to cut a frozen turkey breast in half I found out.
I tried two different seriated knives. That worked but not well. Then I recalled I had this useless saw in the cabinet I had bought at the dollar store.
I took out the saw and thoroughly cleaned and tried it on the frozen turkey breast. This time I was successful. It may not work on wood but it did very well on the turkey.
I was able to cut it in half and now the turkey would fit in the crock pot.
Then it was time to add the ingredients that was in the recipe. It included dry onion soup mix and cranberry sauce.  I was really not sure this combination would work but I had nothing to lose so I decided to give it a try.
I just took the turkey out of the crock pot a little while ago and could not resist giving it a try, but first I added some Wondra to the juices from the turkey, the onion soup mix, and cranberries to thicken it.
I then cut up the turkey and removed the skin (I don’t eat skin it’s up to you if you like it} then I put a slice of turkey on a place and spooned some of the sauce over the turkey and on the side put some cranberries on the plate.
Here is the recipe made for one or two people with left for sandwiches this week.

Recipe

½ turkey breast
¾ packet of onion soup mix
½  can of cranberry sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Sprinkle salt and pepper (to taste) and the onion soup mix on the top and bottom of turkey breast.
Add cranberry sauce to top of turkey breast and cook in crock pot on low overnight (8 hours) or for three to four hours on high.
Half way though I did removed the turkey breast and mixed the onion soup mix and cranberries together and basted it with the sauce and returned it to the crock pot to finish cooking.
I took a picture of the meal then enjoyed the turkey and cranberry sauce. I knew it was good and most likely I would make the turkey this way again but this time I would cut the fresh turkey in half before I freeze it.
The way I know it’s better than good? Both my cats went crazy over the turkey and the sauce!
Hey we all have ways of judging things right? This is mine so don’t judge me and don’t laugh I know you will like it as much as they did!
