Old Fashioned Sicilian Spaghetti Sauce With Pork And Italian Sausage
Yesterday I was too tired to make dinner so today I wanted to make sure I had good dinner later.
I decided to pull out the crock-pot and make a one pot meal. It would be the easiest thing to do today if I could find all the ingredients I needed. The trick was I didn't have a clue what I was going to make so the first thing I had to do was see what was in the refrigerator.
After checking the refrigerator I found I had taken some Italian sausage and some pork steak out of the freezer this week that needed to be used before it went bad. I then found some onions and green pepper sitting on the shelf next to the celery. A plan was form in my head. I went to the pantry to see if I had what I needed to pull my plan together. Yup there sat the jar of Ragu Spaghetti sauce. Now just a couple more things and my idea would work.
I looked on the shelf over the sink to see if I had any red wine. I did. There was a quarter of a bottle of Clememte Chianti.
Next the last thing on my list did I have some Italian seasonings. Yes I did. It was a go! I would make old fashioned Sicilian Spaghetti sauce.
I poured some wine in the lined crock-pot ( I suggest you buy the liners for the crock-pots the cost is worth every dime).
Then followed with the meat chopped into edible pieces, then I seasoned the meat and added the sauce.
Done and in a few hours I would have sauce.
When dinner time came I got out some cheese raviolis from the freezer and put them in a pan of water. When the water boiled the ravioli was done.
What I love about ravioli is they cook up so fast.
In five minutes I had dinner on my plate with a side of the celery salad I made earlier this week.
This dinner reminds me of my childhood and is always a sentimental favorite.
I enjoyed my dinner and if you decide to make this for yourself I think you will enjoy it as well.
