Ravioli & Sausage
Yesterday I had to cook
up some meat that I had taken out of the freezer a day or so before. I don’t
like things to go to waste even if I was unable to stand long enough to make a
decent dinner.
Anyway I cooked one cube
steak and three Italian sausages on the grill. That was easy enough to do.
Last night I had the
cube steak and some brown rice.
Today I had to decide
what to do with the Italian sausage that would be quick and easy.
I went into the freezer
to see what I had and to get an idea of what I would make for dinner. I saw the
cheese ravioli on the freezer rack and the decision was made.
Next I looked in the
refrigerator. I knew I had sauce frozen but I was hoping I still had some in
the refrigerator and I did.
I took the sauce,
sausage, and ravioli out of the refrigerator.
I put the ravioli in a
small pan of water and turned on the stove.
Next I poured the sauce
in a casserole dish and cut up the sausage and mixed the sausage and sauce
together.
I was done in two
minutes and when back to do some reading while the ravioli cooked. That took
about five minutes. I drained the ravioli and mixed it in with the sausage and
sauce and sprinkled some cheese on the top. Dinner made. Next I cleaned up the
pan and went back in the living room to get off my legs.
The clean up and the
mixing the ravioli etc took no more than a minute.
When dinner time comes I
may make a salad if I am not up to that I will simply have a sliced tomato with
blue cheese on the side of the dinner casserole that will either be cooked in
the microwave or in the oven if it’s not too hot outside.
Now you know why I say
put away left over meals and sauces they do come in handy when it’s necessary
to make another simple and under three minute dinner on those busy days or days
when you just cannot take the time to make a more elaborate meal but your still
hungry and want something good to eat.
I finished my dinner a little while ago and it was very good. What I would like to add to this article is the suggestion that when you make any pasta casserole that you use marinara sauce. With all the flavors that go into making this meal and the starch in the pasta the tomato taste we all love in spaghetti sauce is lost but because marinara sauce is different it has an extra fresh taste of tomato that does not get lost in this casserole .
