Yummy Yummy Yummy Butter-Nut Ball Cookies In My Tummy!

Yummy Yummy Yummy Butter-Nut Ball Cookies In My Tummy!

Yes I know the title is cheesy but how could I resist? Sometimes its just plain more fun to go for the obivious.
Today I am making nothing healthy or low in calories. Nope not at all. I am making something That is easy, inexpensive, loaded I am sure with calories, and most importantly they are just plain yummy!
I decided to make another recipe from the 1959 Bisquick cook book that I found when I went though an old file.
I never trust easy cookie recipes but I really wanted a cookie and I didn’t have any in the house.
Plus I was broke after spending all my money this month after fixing the brakes on my car.
I knew eve  the thought of buying cookies from the Dollar Tree was not in the cards.
So what to do…
Then I recalled the recipes I read in this cook book and decided to give one of them a try.
Today I made. Butter-Nut Ball Cookies.
As I said I did not hold out much hope for them turning out very good but I forged ahead anyway and made them with my desire for a cookie out weighing my doubts.
They were in the oven baking in no time at all.
Here is how they are made:

Butter-Nut Balls

1 cup Bisquick
¼ cup soft butter that’s half a stick (do not melt! Let it soften then use)
½ tTsp  of lemon juice, vanilla, or almond extract (I used a full teaspoon of lemon juice)
3 tbsp boiling water
1 egg white slightly beaten
2/3 cup of sugar
½ cup of finely chopped nuts.

Directions

Heat over to 375 degrees
Mix Bisquick, butter, 1/3 cup of sugar, flavoring
Add Water
Stir with fork until dough forms a ball and cleans bowl
Shape into 18 balls
Then roll in egg
Then dip in sugar and nuts you have mixed together
Bake 10 to 12 mins placed 2” apart on an ungreased  baking sheet
Makes a 1 ½ dozen cookies

Your next question is how did they turn out?
You know that as soon as they came out of the oven I had to try them!
I poured myself a cup of tea, took a couple of cookies and as I sit here typing this article I am enjoying the cookies and I dropping crumbs on the key board.
I will share half the cookies with my neighbor so I don’t eat them all but will enjoy every single one I do eat.

They are really good, and they taste like homemade cookies that take much more time to make and not like the quickies these really are. They have a great flavor and I love the nut and sugar topping. Most importantly my sweet tooth is happy and so am I to have found this recipe that turned out so well.
I will use this recipe again and I will use it as a base to experiment with other flavors and fillings.
If I am thinking of other cookies I can make with this recipe I guess I can say this one is a great success!
Everything so far I have tried from this book has turned out well.
Needless to say I will be trying out recipes from this book and sharing them with you if they turn out well.
So give this a try if your sweet tooth starts demanding to be recognized and served! You can fool that sweet tooth with this quickie cookie recipe and enjoy saving money with a recipe like this one when you do.
