Club Sandwich
Yesterday was shopping
day. I had to pick my neighbor up from Price Chopper where she works and
decided it made sense to do my shopping there since I would have to wait anyway
for her while she did hers. For those of you that don’t have a Price Chopper
where you live it’s a large chain grocery store with average prices.
After careful
consideration and making a compact list I was off to the store.
I stick to my list so it
can take a lot of time to get the shopping done. Yesterday when I was finished
I was really hurting. Hurting to the point that dinner was a simple hot pocket.
Today dinner will be
simple but one of my long time favorites and one I believe we don’t think about
making at home but should.
I am going to make a
club sandwich for dinner tonight.
What gave me the idea
was a purchase I made. Price chopper was selling Hillshire farms cold cuts buy
one get one for free that made the price of the cold cuts two dollars a pound. That
was a great value. There are a lot of selections to choose from but I finally decided
on honey ham and mesquite flavored turkey.
I bought three slices of
Swiss cheese from the deli to complete my club sandwich and went home looking
forward to a great sandwich today.
Tonight I will toast
three slices of bread and make two layers of cold cuts and cheese with lettuce,
mayonnaise, and tomato.
I also bought a 24 package
of chips that was on sale as well at Price Chopper and will put a bag of chips
with the sandwich to keep things simple and easy.
This is truly a simple
meal but a satisfying one that I am sure I will enjoy.
Next time when you want
something simple but good think about making a club sandwich. Use the cheese
and cold cuts you like best because that is the beauty of a club sandwich you
can make it your way.
I believe you will enjoy
this sandwich and the ease of making this meal as much as I do.
