Easy Biquick Scones

Easy Biquick Scones

I have been threatening to make scones for a while now.
A friend and my neighbor have been asking me to make them
and today seemed like to perfect day to do it.
The reason the people I know like scones is because I can control what goes in the scones and I can make them lower in calorie or filled with goodies. My choice.
The one problem with Bisquick is they don’t give just a generic version of scones everything is made with additional ingredients.
I wanted to make sure I got it right the first time I made these scones  so I did some research and came up with a suitable recipe.
First let me give you the basic recipe for the scones that way you can decide what you want to put in the scones.

Scones
2 c. Bisquick
1/3 c. low-fat milk
3 tbsp. sugar (2 pkg.equal)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

Directions:

Mix and form into 8 inch circle. Use more Bisquick if this is sticky.
Put on greased cookie sheet; cut into eighths before baking.
Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes.

Now let me give you ideas for fillings. Today I used Chocolate chips in half of the scones and the other side I used mixed berries and  crushed pecans.
Then on top I brushed low fat milk instead of butter and sprinkled the left over crushed pecan on top of that and baked the scone.
I buy the chocolate chips  at the Dollar Tree and the dried mixed berries and pecans at the Dollar General.  I pay a dollar for each bag and I get several uses out of these bags of fruit and nuts that makes them a really good value.

After I took the scones out of the oven I let them cool for a while before I loosened the sides of the scones and then flipped them upside down on a plate.
Scones are great by themselves or with butter or sugar free jam.
You decide.
Now that my scones are ready and this article is done I am going to go and read my book and enjoy a scone and a cup of tea.
Why not join me?
