Traditional Chicken Dinner From a Mystery
Today let’s make a traditional chicken dinner.
I got the idea from a book I just finished reading.
In the book a chicken dinner was served and the book listed the ingredients that were in this meal.
Today I decided to make this meal that the book called a traditional chicken dinner.
One of the best parts of this meal I discovered was that it cost under a dollar to make.
I am going to make Lemon/Rosemary Chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas.
Let’s start with the chicken that was served in the book. To be honest these ingredients and preparations were not listed so I had to look up how to make Lemon/Rosemary Chicken.
I believe after consulting several recipes this is the right way to make it:
Lemon/Rosemary Chicken
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
· 3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons olive oil
· 1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary or 2 tsp. dried
· 1 garlic clove, minced
· Salt and pepper
·
Directions
Combine the lemon juice, olive oil, rosemary, and garlic
Baste the chicken and let it marinate for about twenty minutes if possible.
Arrange chicken in a baking dish and baste again. Throw out any left over marinate you are done using it.
Put Chicken in the oven at 375 degrees.
Bake until juices run clear when chicken is pricked with a fork and meat is no longer pink at the bone, about 30 minutes.
Next are the mash potatoes in the book the potatoes were mashed with butter, sour cream, salt and pepper. That’s the same way I make it and have mentioned it in other articles that I have published because this is how I make them.
The final side dish is peas. This is something I never tried but it made sense.
Frozen or fresh peas sprinkled with soy sauce, a dab of butter and fresh ground pepper.
Don’t add salt because soy sauce has enough in it and you don’t want the peas overly salty.
That’s it easy and it will give you a feeling of family tradition tonight even if your family never had meals like this. Mine didn’t but it still gave me that feeling.
It will be a filling and enjoyable meal at an extremely low cost and of course easy to make.
I had dinner and now can tell you this was a great meal.
The potatoes were what I expected since this is how I make them anyway. I like the little tang that sour cream gives them
The peas with a dash of soy sauce worked wonderful. The taste of the peas were enhanced and the sweetness of the peas were brought out.
The chicken I loved the chicken this way! There was a fresh taste to the chicken. The lemon added a little bit of bitter and the garlic and oil added the sweet. The Rosemary enhanced the chickens flavor.
This was really good and if you get a chance give it a try!
