Recycle Don’t Serve Leftovers!

I am beginning to understand why people don’t like leftovers.
I think the main issue to give you an example is if you had steak and mashed potato dinner and then the next day the same meal that was really great the day before is on the plate again this time just reheated.
There is nothing less appealing as far as I am concerned than leftovers served this way.
I don’t serve left over’s I recycle the different parts of that meal into something a lot more appetizing.
What made me thing about this is that I just recycled some steak from last night’s dinner and made a meal tonight from those so called leftovers. I call them opportunities to be creative and make something really good to enjoy for dinner.
If you can tell that this meal came from leftovers I would be very surprised.
Tonight instead of steak and baked potatoes I made an entirely meal.
I browned a half an onion, a cup of broccoli, sliced up the left over steak into about one inch pieces and then added salt and pepper. Both freshly ground of course and added a clove of chopped garlic.
Once I got this started I took about a half a pound of egg noodles and added a little onion soup to the water then put them in the were  cooking I went back over to the stove and as soon as everything is heated though and the onions have a slight golden brown to them I put all that was in the pan on a plate until I am ready to use it again.
Now that the pan was empty I make rue for onion gravy. Rue is simply butter and flour that you add together and stir constantly until I see the flour get a little golden. Then I add water to the pan and whisk in the remainder of the package of onion soup mix I had opened earlier and used to flavor the water while the noodles cooked.
Once my onion gravy is thickened I add the vegetables and beef back to the gravy that I made. By the time I do this the noodles are ready. I dump them into a collared to drain them and add half of the noodles to the gravy and vegetables.
I am finished with the meal and when I have dinner later I will have a Hawaiian King roll to complete my meal.
Do I mind that I used leftover steak? No of course not! This was a completely different meal and it will be enjoyed just as much as the yesterday’s dinner!
