SUPERBURGERS

REVISITED
Yes I know I have posted this before but this is what I am making for dinner tonight. This has always been a favorite among my family and friends.
Mom discovered this recipe back in the sixties and fixed it often. It was so easy and always good. It had to be if mom made it!
Later in life both my brother and I continued to make this for our family and friends over the years. I cannot tell you whether it was originally published in Good House Keeping, Family Circle, or Woman’s Day. I do know it was one of those magazines.
It was Superburgers.
Here is the recipe so you can get what you need to make it for your special sports day.
SUPERBURGERS
1 lb. hamburger
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 can minestrone soup (undiluted)
1/4 c. spaghetti sauce
¼ c. crushed tomatoes
1 pkg. hot dog buns
Sliced cheese (your choice of what kind of cheese I like American or Cheddar)
Directions
Brown hamburger breaking it up as it cooks and add the onion; drain off fat. Add soup and sauce. Heat thoroughly.
Fill hot dog buns. Top with cheese and hold the rolls together with a tooth pick.
Place in oven for ½ hour at 350 degrees to crisps up the rolls.
Serve.
This is a wonderful left over meal as well. I almost like it better the second day.
I will reheat the Superburgers and put some cottage cheese with onions on the side.
You can do substitutions for the ground beef. Use Italian sausage, ground turkey or chicken.
There is also a lot of nutritional value in this meal as well.
In the soup there are a lot of vegetables and you also have it in the onions and tomatoes.
So feel good about enjoying this meal know it tastes good but it seems so bad for you!
