SAUERKRAUT AND SAUSAGE& Grandmas Apple Sauce
Tonight for dinner I made Reuben sandwiches for dinner. Now I have most of a can of sauerkraut left. I decided to check out one of my favorite sites for inspiration and found one that sounded really good. Below is what I decided to make:
SAUERKRAUT AND SAUSAGE:
Ingredients:
1 can sauerkraut
1/2 lb. sausage, cut in chunks (or hot dogs, whole your choice)
1/2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. caraway seeds (optional)
1/2 large apple, cut in quarters or two small apples.
1/2 lb. sausage, cut in chunks (or hot dogs, whole your choice)
1/2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. caraway seeds (optional)
1/2 large apple, cut in quarters or two small apples.
Directions:
Place sauerkraut, brown sugar, caraway seeds, and apple in covered baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Add sausage or hot dogs and bake, covered, 30 minutes,
Ready to serve with some of Grandmas apple sauce.
Grandma's Apple Sauce
Ingredients:
1/2 to 3/4 teas cinnamon or nutmeg
1/2 teas brown sugar
1 egg white
Directions:
beat egg white until you get peaks that stand up
Then combine rest of ingredients and then fold in the egg white.
Don't worry about the uncooked egg white its fine as long as you use fresh eggs according to Science News. Besides my family has made this apple sauce for over fifty years with no problems.
