Beer-Steamed Clams on a Gas Grill

Needless to say I am cooking out on my grill again.
I came across this recipe today and went out and got some clams and a bottle of beer. (don't ask). Clams are on sale at Price Chopper this week. For  two dozen you will only pay 2.50. If its only you then a dozen will do just fine.
Anyway when I saw this recipe I just had to try it and I was not disappointed.
I think you will like it too.

Beer-Steamed Clams on a Gas Grill
INGREDIENTS

24to 36 littleneck clams
1 bottle of beer

DIRECTIONS:

·        1 Heat gas grill.
·        2 Wash clams one at a time, scrubbing lightly to remove sand from outside.
·        3 Set grill-proof pan (camping pan or cast iron pan) on grill rack. Pour beer into pan.
·        4 Place clams on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; steam clams 5 minutes.
·        5. Check and remove any clams that are wide open.
·        6. Cover grill; continue steaming 5 minutes longer or until all clams have opened wide.
·        Serve immediately.
This is great by the way served on a bed for fresh spinach flavored with salt, pepper, lemon and nutmeg.
