The
Best Biscuits I Ever Ate
Do
you as so many people do believe a biscuit is just a side or unimportant part
of a meal?
I
am here to tell you that you are wrong.
Every
part of the meal including the biscuit should be one of the stars of a meal or
why bother eating it?
Biscuits
serve a lot of purposes if you think about it.
In
the morning for breakfast what is better than a warm biscuit with fresh jam?
Lunch perhaps use a biscuit instead of bread for a special treat when making a sandwich?
Dinner
you use biscuits under, over, and next to a meal.
So
yes they do serve a lot of different purposes.
If
you don’t believe me check with someplace like McDonalds.
It
took a little while but I believe I have come up with the perfect biscuit.
Give
it a try and let me know what you think.
Here
it is:
Ingredients:
2
cups of Bisquick plus a little for rolling out the dough
1
Cup of sour cream
½
cup of soda such as Ginger Ale, Sprite, Selzer
½ stick
of butter
Directions:
1.
Blend together all the ingredients cutting the butter into small
amounts to make it easier to blend.
2.
Add the extra Bisquick to
the table or whatever you’re going to use to roll out your dough.
3.
Roll out dough and cut with circular pastry cutter, cup or whatever
you’re going to use to cut out your biscuits.
4.
Baste with butter both sides of biscuits
5.
Place on cookie sheet
6.
Bake in oven at 375 degrees for twenty minutes or until golden
brown
The secret to
these biscuits besides the sour cream is the carbonated beverage you are using.
Sour cream as you
know keeps whatever your using it in moist (by the way if you use sour cream
instead of water or milk when you are making omelets or scrambled eggs your
eggs will turn out fluffy and tasty)
The carbonated
beverage keeps the biscuits light and fluffy as it does when you use to make a cake.
I change the size
of the biscuits and the height depending on what I am going to use the biscuits
for.
For example when
I am making cream chipped beef or perhaps roast beef and gravy I don’t want a
lot of dough under these foods so I make my biscuit flatter and bigger so when
I am eating my dinner I get the full flavor and of the biscuit and not
something soggy under my gravy.
I hope you enjoy
this recipe I know you will want to eat the whole batch as soon as they come
out of the oven!
Talk about like
potato chips its hard to eat just one!
