Thanksgiving Snacks Creamy Tuna & Caper Dip & Dried Beef Bread Dip

Thanksgiving Snacks Creamy Tuna & Caper Dip & Dried Beef Bread Dip

This Thursday is Thanksgiving and we are all looking forward to the special foods that we grew up enjoying on this holiday.
One of the things we seldom have a lot of  traditions for are the snacks and if we do there are perhaps one or two and we are always looking for others because most of these snacks  are what I call uninspired fillers. I believe we deserve more than fillers.
Here is an example of what I mean by fillers. I remember as a child mom made snacks for Thanksgiving that included  dates with walnuts in the center rolled in sugar and celery with Kraft  Cheese Spread, Pineapple.
There were  our snacks because they were easy and there was no cooking involved. Since mom did not cook and I was responsible for the dinner from the time I was eight years old mom considered that these snacks were her contribution to Thanksgiving.
I am not saying they were not good, they were but it was a little bit on the light side for Thanksgiving snacks they were better on the side like the nuts and mints.
Later as a young adult my cousin Marlene taught me how to make and that is a chipped beef dip in a bread bowl. This has remained a Thanksgiving  tradition in my home.
This year I wanted one more dip and found this one from Australia.
I love capers so this one was perfect as far as I was concerned.
Here is the dip in question:
Creamy Tuna & Caper Dip

8 oz light cream cheese
185g can tuna in oil, drained
1/2 cup light whole-egg mayonnaise

Place cream cheese, tuna, mayonnaise, parsley, capers and lemon juice in a food processor.
 Process until just smooth.
 Serve.
Here is the
DRIED BEEF BREAD BOWL DIP
1 round loaf of rye bread, hollow out center and toast a short time.
DIP:
1 1/4 c. sour cream
1 1/4 c. mayonnaise
1 tbsp. chopped onion
1 tbsp. dill weed ( I added this years later)
6 oz. chopped, dried beef
Mix dip ingredients together.
Serve the dip in the hollow of the bread.
Make cubes out of the bread center and use to dip.

Both dips are tasty and sure to please your guests on Thanksgiving
