Baked Pasta

Baked Pasta

Did you ever wonder how to make baked pasta?
My ex sister in law always made great baked pasta! I though it had to be hard to do and take lots of time so I never asked her how to make it.
Finally curiosity got the better of me and I decided that maybe
I didn't know how it was done but I wanted to learn and finally I did and  did not realize how easy it was.
Here is all you have to do:

Baked Pasta

Ingredients:

1 package of Rigatoni or Ziti
1 cup of shredded cheese. ( I only buy the Saragento with the cream cheese. I think cream cheese goes better with all shredded cheese)
1 small can of stewed tomatoes or Italian tomatoes.
1 small jar of your favorite sauce
1 teaspoon of Italian mixed seasoning
1/2  teaspoon of garlic powder (don't use if you are using Italian style tomatoes)
Sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste.

Instructions:

While the pasta is cooking mix the tomatoes, spices,  and the sauce together. Drain the water from the tomatoes. You don't want your sauce to be watery.
Next when the pasta is drained and ready to use layer it with a little sauce on the bottom topped with the pasta, then  the cheese, then the sauce again. Continue until you have used all the pasta, cheese , and sauce. Ending with the cheese on top.
Bake at 350 for about a half hour then place under broiler for a couple of minutes until the cheese is bubbly on top.
You are done!
Let it stand for about twenty minutes. If you are worried about it getting too cold cover with foil.
Serve with your favorite red wine and a toss salad and you have a wonderful meal to look forward to eating!
