Lemon Poppy Seed Bunt Cake (dump style)
The other day I decided to make one of the dump desert recipes.
The one I chose was the Lemon Poppy Seed Bunt Cake.The reason and rational was that my favorite muffin is Lemon Poppy Seed, so how bad could this recipe be?
I am not going to tell you that it is inexpensive to get the ingredients.
It's not but when you are done you get a big beautiful bunt cake and if you cut between the ridges of the bunt cake you can make eight 4 piece servings of this cake. That brings the over all cost down to fifty cents per 4 servings. No bad.
I admit only six packages made it to the freezer.This cake was so good I could not stop eating it!
Here is the miracle part of this. I don't bake. I am bad at baking! I can not even make a box cake!
So why did I try? Well why wouldn't I? I figured at some dayI might get it right and this recipe thats exactly what I did.
I have had a lot of bunt cakes in my day but never one as good as the one I made!
Here is the recipe:
Lemon Poppy Seed Bundt Cake (dump style)
Ingredients:
1 package (about 15 oz) yellow cake mix I used Betty Crocker Lemon Cake Mix
1 package (4 serving size) lemon gelatin
4 eggs
2/3 cup of water
1/2 cup of vegetable, peanut, or canola oil
Grated peel and juice of 1/2 lemon ( if you use the lemon cake mix you can save the lemon juice for the frosting)
1/4 cup poppy seeds
Lemon Glaze (recipe follows)
Directions:
Ingredients:

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Grease and flour bundt cake pan.
2. Combine cake mix, gelatin, eggs, water, oil, lemon peel and juice, in a large bowl
3. Bake about 35 mins. or until toothpick comes out clean (My stove took 40 mins)
4 Prepare Lemon Glaze
Ingredients:
1 cup of powered sugar
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
Directions:
Mix ingredients together until smooth
the recipe calls for the glaze to go on a cooled cake.
I prefer to have it dripped over my cake so I did it when the cake was hot. Its up to you when you do it.
As I said before this was delicious! You will not need to even add butter. Its good as is!
