Berry Crisp Dump Cake
I saw this recipe on the kitchen and decided this would be a good one even for me to make.
I am not much of a baker and when I find something it's easy and quick I put it in my recipe file and decided to share this one with you. Here it is:
Berry Crisp Dump Cake
Ingredients
Nonstick cooking spray or butter, for greasing the baking dish
Two 12-ounce bags frozen mixed berries
1 box yellow cake mix
1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/3 cup rolled oats
1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
Ice cream or whipped cream, for serving
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
Put the berries in the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute the cake mix over the berries. Sprinkle with the walnuts and oats. Evenly drizzle the butter over the entire dish.
Bake until firm and golden brown, about 55 minutes. Let sit 5 minutes. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
Here are a couple substitutes for you and reductions.
If you don't have yellow cake mix then use white cake mix or a berry flavored cake.
The Dollar Tree carry mixed fairies in their freezer compartment so this is a good place to pick up the berries and they are perfectly good and quite delicious. Also if you don't want mixed berries you can use cherries you can use strawberries use the berries you want it's going to come out the same.
I don't have walnuts, but I always have a couple pounds of pecans in my freezer so I'll use those instead of walnuts. You can do the same thing using the nuts you have on hand or prefer.
If you don't have unsalted butter you can use salted.
Usually get oats in my pantry and it's not a bad thing to have on hand.
I live by myself and I do share some of the things I make but I'm not going to make this whole crisp because half of it would go to waste.
I will cut this recipe in half.
I take the cake mix out of the box and put it on my food scale or my postage scale measuring cup.
When I get one half the weight of the mix in the Box then I'm ready to go to make half the size of this recipe.
Food scales in method expensive in the times of invaluable in the kitchen.
