Fire & Ice Tomatoes
This recipe I entered a cooking contest and took second place with this recipe.
This is an old recipe from an exclusive Rochester New York restaurant.
My Aunt Honey's best friend was a chef there and this was one of her recipes she shared with me.
it really is good and it's worth putting together the right way.
It seems so simple but it's really so good!
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
3/4 cup vinegar
1/2 celery salt
1/4 cup cold water
1 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of red pepper
6 tomatoes
1 green pepper
1 sliced red onion
1 sliced cucumber
Directions:
Bring first 8 ingredients to a boil for 1 minute
Pour over remaining ingredients except cucumber.
Chill
Before serving add cucumber
This is excellent served with mozzarella and a hearty bread like Italian or French
